Concept Dental in Conception Bay South has a team of dedicated and hardworking individuals who strive to provide high standards of service. Get to know about some of the talented individuals that are a part of our Concept Dental family :
Administration
Allison - Administrative Assistant
Allison joined Concept Dental in September 2021. She completed a Level 2 Dental Assisting program at Keyin College in 2004. She has 2 boys and 3 rescue pets. Ally enjoys cooking, spending time outdoors and going around the bay to visit family.
Christa - Administrative Assistant
Christa is originally from Mount Pearl, but currently lives in Conception Bay South with her husband and son. She joined the team at Concept Dental in October 2020, bringing with her 8-years experience in the dental field. She completed a 2 year program in Office Administration Technology at Academy Canada, where she graduated top of her class in 2012. When not at work, Christa enjoys reading, walking, music and spending time with family and friends.
Victoria - Administrative Assistant
Victoria (Vic) joined the Concept Dental team in October 2019. She graduated from the Keyin College Dental Assisting Program in 2015. When not at work, Victoria can be found exploring the outdoors or at Bespoke Cycle. She enjoys spending time with family, friends and her Golden Retriever Benny, all with a Starbucks Iced Coffee in hand.
Office Manager
Chrissy - Office Manager
Chrissy is originally from a tiny community in Conception Bay North. She and her husband moved to Conception Bay South 15 years ago and they have an 8-year-old daughter named Skylar. Chrissy joined the Concept Team in November 2014. She graduated from her 2-year Administrative Program in 1998 and was class valedictorian. Having worked previously in a dental office, she knew she needed to go back to that field as that is where her heart was. She recently got promoted to the position of Office Manager and has such passion for her job. When not at the office, you can find her hanging out a BlueFin with her camping family, listening to music and spending time with family and friends.
Dental Hygienists
Marsha - Dental Hygienist
Marsha is an enthusiastic dental hygienist with almost 20 years of experience in the field. She worked in a periodontal practice for almost 7 years and is skilled in dealing with anxious and nervous patients with her quirky sense of humour. Marsha has worked in general dental clinics and has found a balance to incorporate all that she has learned with her periodontal background into a typical dental appointment. She aims to educate individuals about risk factors or habits that can not only impact your dental health but your overall health as well. Marsha enjoys when people are engaged in their dental treatment and encourages them to ask lots of questions about treatment and products. She received her Bachelor of Science degree from Memorial University and furthered her education at Dalhousie. She travels a lot with her husband Todd and two boys.
Sara - Dental Hygienist
Sara graduated from Dalhousie University in 2015 with a diploma of Dental Hygiene, certification of administering local anesthetic and winning awards in her class for excellence in patient education and community health. Sara prides herself in providing thorough treatment tailored specifically to the needs of every patient to make their visit as comfortable as possible.
Sara resides here in CBS but is originally from the Bonavista Peninsula. In her spare time, she enjoys hiking, spending time with her husband Brandon, their dog Molly and family and friends.
Meghan - Dental Hygienist
Meghan is one of your friendly Dental Hygienists at Concept Dental. She graduated from George Brown College (Toronto) in 2010 with a diploma in Dental Hygiene, with honours. Meghan continually expands her skills and knowledge through continuing education and is certified to administer local anesthesic to make your dental hygiene visit more comfortable. Meghan enjoys building bonds with her patients and you will find that she is compassionate and ensures a positive dental experience. Outside the office Meghan is an avid softball player and is sure to be found spending time outdoors, hiking, beach combing and exploring with her husband and two children. She also loves to visit her hometown on the Northern Peninsula.
Chelsey - Dental Hygienist
Chelsey joined our team in April 2021. She graduated from Toronto College of Dental Hygiene and Auxiliaries with a high honours dental hygiene diploma in 2019. Chelsey has had an interest in dentistry since she was a child. She loves educating her patients and caring about all their needs.
Morgan - Dental Hygienist
Morgan graduated from Toronto College of Dental Hygiene and Auxiliaries in 2013 and joined the concept team in July of 2022. She has held several volunteer positions within the Newfoundland and Labrador Dental Association since 2014. Morgan's goal is to make her clients feel comfortable in a judgement-free space, while providing high quality dental hygiene services. She enjoys getting to know her clients and making sure they are involved in all aspects of their dental hygiene treatment.
Morgan is originally from Port Au Choix, but currently lives in CBS. In her free time you can find her on the trailway with her husband Kris and dogs Minne and Quill, cruising thrift stores for unusual finds, or relaxing in her hammock in the sun.
Dental Assistants
Raelene - Dental Assitant
Raelene is one of the assistants here at Concept Dental. Currently working alongside Dr. Brobst, Raelene has been an RDA for 16 years and graduated from her program at Keyin College in 2006. In her spare time, Raelene enjoys spending it with her husband, daughter and family dog.
Jessica - Dental Assistant
Jessica is a Level 2 dental assistant who joined our team in September 2016. She did her schooling in North Bay, ON, at Canadore College. She is a bookworm, dog mom and enjoys walks on Trailways.
Samantha - Dental Assistant
I'm Samantha! I joined the Concept Dental team in 2021. Aside from loving my job being a chairside assistant for the past 10 years, I love spending time with my family, two dogs and anywhere outdoors!
Elissa - Dental Assistant
Elissa has been part of the Concept Dental family from day one! After completing the dental assisting program at Keyin College in 2011, she soon began working with Dr. Strickland and still works by his side.
When she is not at the office, you can find Elissa tending to her vegetable garden or planning her next vacation with her husband.
Dentists
Dr. Melissa Brobst - Dentist (Owner)
Dr. Melissa Brobst grew up near the fishing community of Yarmouth, Nova Scotia (and it's not a common name there either). She attended Dalhousie University for all her post-secondary education, where she first earned her diploma of Dental Hygiene before deciding she liked teeth so much that she'd continue to study them and obtained her Doctor of Dental Surgery in 2012.
Melissa was the proud recipient of numerous awards throughout her scholastic endeavours, culminating with the Dr. David Precious Gold Medal in Dentistry upon graduation. During her university years in Halifax, Melissa was fortunate enough to meet and later marry her partner in life and business, Dr. Joe Strickland. Joe convinced her to move to his beautiful home province of Newfoundland, where they opened Concept Dental together in 2013. Dr. Brobst enjoys all aspects of general dentistry but has a particular passion for improving patients' smiles through orthodontic treatment. While not at work Melissa loves spending time with Joe and their two children, Nova and Joey. On a personal level, she enjoys cooking, boating, keeping active, reading and loves to unwind on her yoga mat.
Dr. Joe Strickland - Dentist (Owner)
Dr. Joe Strickland was raised in the beautiful, tiny town of Burgeo. He studied dentistry at Dalhousie University in Halifax, where he met his future wife and practise partner, Dr. Melissa Brobst. Being a true Newfoundlander, he returned home after graduating in 2009, and they opened Concept Dental in 2013. Dr. Strickland practices all aspects of general dentistry but particularly enjoys dental implant therapy as a replacement option for missing teeth. He is committed to pursuing additional expertise in this area. When not at the office, Dr. Strickland loves to spend time with Melissa and his children, Nova and Joey, at their home around the bay and on the water in Trinity Bay. Outside, he likes fishing and hunting. Inside, he likes cooking pizza and playing his guitar.
Dr. Matthew Quinlan - Dentist
Dr. Matthew Quinlan completed his Bachelor of Science degree with honours at Memorial University, NL, in 2011. In 2014 he started the Doctor of Dental Surgery program at Dalhousie University in Halifax. He earned the Dr. W.H.H Beckwith prize for greatest proficiency in Clinical Operative Dentistry in 2017. He started working as a general dentist after graduation. Dr. Quinlan loves to cook, read, travel and spend time with his wife and twin boys.
